Panama Canal Pilots' Union

Labor organization which represents all Panama Canal pilots on labor-management relations with the Panama Canal Authority. Established in 1919 as Local 27 of the American Association of Masters, Mates and Pilots, at which time it included, in addition to pilots, the masters and mates of all Canal floating equipment. Two years later, on January 31, 1921, the pilots decided to organize our own local, and on this date, Local 30 received its charter from the National Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots.
